A quiet neighborhood betrayed what Paterson police said a city couple packaging various forms of THC for sale might have mistaken as proctective cover for their operation.

Narcotics detectives got a tip pointing to the tiny home on Garrison Street, just off Broadway, which city Police Director Jerry Speziale said “doesn’t have a lot of vehicle or pedestrian traffic” – ordinarily, anyway.

Investigators kept watch and were soon led across town to another home, this one in the 800 block of 22nd Street.

An evening raid there Tuesday turned up dozens of THC vape cartridges, jars of edibles and THC oil, nearly eight pounds of THC wax papers and more than an ounce of cocaine, among other drugs, all worth a combined $20,000 on the street, Speziale said.

They also seized a Lorcin .380-caliber handgun, along with a magazine for it, more than two dozen 9mm Luger Remington rounds, and a BB gun, as well as a magnified scope, the director said.

Various drug manufacturing, packaging and distribution materials were also seized, along with $4,233 in drug cash, he said.

Arrested were Elieser J. Castro, 40, and his wife, Wendy Castro, 49.

Both were released Friday, under New Jersey’s 2017 bail reform law, following a detention hearing.
